Modern Sikkim is a multiethnic and multilingual Indian state. Sikkim has 11 official languages: Nepali, Sikkimese, Lepcha, Tamang, Limbu, Newari, Rai, Gurung, Magar, Sunwar and English.[6][7] English is taught in schools and used in government documents. The predominant religions are Hinduism and Vajrayana Buddhism.

Nestling in the Himalayan Mountains, the state of Sikkim is characterized by mountainous terrain. Almost the entire state is hilly, with an elevation ranging from 280 metres (920 ft) to 8,586 metres (28,169 ft). The summit of Kangchenjunga—the world's third-highest peak—is the state's highest point, situated on the border between Sikkim and Nepal.

The state has five seasons: winter, summer, spring, autumn, and a monsoon season between June and September. Sikkim's climate ranges from sub-tropical in the south to tundra in the north. Sikkim is one of the few states in India to receive regular snowfall.

Gangtok - The Capital of Sikkim

Gangtok city of Sikkim Gantok is the capital of Sikkim. Gantok means “Hill top” and is located in the Eastern Himalayan range at an elevation of 1650 mtrs. The town’s polulation is 1 lac approx and includes different ethnicities namely Nepali, Lepchas and Bhutia.

Cable car ride is popular in Sikkim and it gives bird view of Sikkim. The ride is about of one km. There are three terminal stations viz lower station at Deorali Market, Intermediate station at Nam Nang and Upper terminal station at Tashiling.

Beside cable ride, Mountain Cycling and Trekking can be enjoyed here. The city do not sleep. Tourist can enjoy late night party

Gurudongmar Lake - The Sacred Lake

Gurudongmar of Sikkim Gurudongmar Lake is a sacred to people to Sikkim. It is believed that the Guru Padmasambhava have once placed his hand on certain parts of the lake in order to provide drinking water to village and from that day that certain parts of lake never freezes even in cold winter when almost parts of lake freezes to ice.

Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, located at an altitude of 17,800 ft. It is a lake which is considered sacred by both Buddhists and Sikhs. The lake is not only blessed by Guru Padmasambava but also by Guru Nanak, the spiritual leader of Sikhism while he had passed through this area, and hence regarded as sacred.

The lake can be reached by road from Lachen via Thangu. It is 190 kilometres (120 miles) away from Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim. Indian tourists are allowed to visit the lake, foreigners need to get a special permit from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi.

Zuluk - The hamlet

Zuluk of Sikkim Zuluk is a small hamlet located at a height of around 10,000 feet (3,000 m) on the rugged terrain of the lower Himalayas in East Sikkim.

Zuluk is popular and more & more tourist visit here because it gives excellent and fantastic view of Eastern Himalayan mountain range and Kanchenjunga. The route is once famously known as Silk Route, it connects Tibet to India

The small villages have population around 1000 people. The village is surrounded by wild forest. Deer, Wild Dog and Red panda can be seen here. Presence of Tiger is also been reported.

Yamthang Vally - Valley of Flowers

Yamthang Valley of Sikkim Yamthang valley lies in Northern part of Sikkim. It has maginificient landscape and is popurlarly known as Valley of Flowers.

The valley is surrounded by the Himalayan Mountains. Tourist travels here to witness the beauty of nature. During spring, the valley blooms with rhododendrons, primulas, poppies, iris and other flora.

The valley have very beautiful landscape and seems nature is displaying its best wonder. The memories of this beautiful valley will never fade away

Do Drul Chorten - The Stupa

Do Drul Chorten of Sikkim Do Drul Chorten is a famous Stupa in Gantok, Sikkim. It is build by Trulshik Rinpoche in 1945. Many holy books including complete set of Dorjee Phurba and other religious objects have been kept inside Do Drul Chorten.

The Chorten have 108 Mani Lhakor prayer wheels. The Statue of Guru Rinpoche can be seen in two surrounding Chorten

It is believed that this stupa has been built to drive away evil spirit which once ruled this place. Trulshik Rinpoche came to this place for hermitage and built this to drive away evil spirit

Do Drul Chorten is 2 KM from Gangtok Town, in Deorali. Tourist can enter the Stupa as well as can offer prayer too.

Rumtek Monastery - The spiritual

Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim Rumtek Monastery, a Gumpha, is one of the largest monasteries in Sikkim and also one of the oldest monasteries. It is home to the community of monks and where they perform the rituals and practices of the Karma Kagyu lineage.

Rumtek is located 24 kilometres (15 mi) from Gangtok at an altitude of about 1,500 metres (4,900 ft).
The monastery was first built in mid 1700s by 12th Karmapa Lama, Changchub Dorje and it was later rebuilt by 16th Karmapa Lama, Rangjung Rigpe Dorjee. Many sacred items and relics are kept.

Rumtek Monastery is a perfect place to attain mental peace. Its spiritual appeal and grandeur make this place a must-visit place to tourist.
